Originally from Huntington Beach, CA, National Tennis Academy certified Bruce Gabrielson has been playing, coaching and teaching tennis since the 1960s. A former Penn Tour player and ranked as high as 17th in the Mid-Atlantic Region during the 1980s, He is also a former Riverdale Baptist HS Coach and a former DeMatha HS Coach. He coached Calvert County star Otis Cutshaw, now a head coach at the college level, during his professional playing career. Bruce also gave current tennis star, Stephen Woody (left) his first tennis lesson.

After an initial evaluation with a written program for the student to follow, lessons will concentrate on developing the following techniques:

  • Grips
  • Ground Strokes - Forehand and Backhand
  • Volley
  • Touch and trick shots
  • Serves (3 different serves)
  • Service Returns
  • Singles and Doubles Match Strategy
  • Footwork

  • Match preparation and muscle/reaction development will also be covered for advanced students.

    Due to the poor planniing and long term court closure at Beach Elementary, private lessons for all age groups and abilities are now scheduled at another neab location. I prefer weekday early evening hours and Sundays (when weather permits). Lesson times are flexible but I do not have a scheduled priority on the courts.

    We also can use our ball machine for drilling and spin return workouts.
